Everyone has things they want to achieve in life, and today's quote from Napoleon Hill makes a good point about this.
"A goal is a dream with a deadline."
I'll be honest, I have a lot of hopes and dreams and I often put them off until I have more time, energy, money or other reasons. I always tell myself that I want to write more, organize things at home, make more money, clean the house, make a scrapbook or do all kinds of other things that I rarely get around to doing.
Lately I haven't even been able to make time to work on this blog and these posts. It's important to me to do this whether anyone sees it or not right now, but it's been hard to make myself work on the blog because there was no deadline and there was always tomorrow.
I need to remember more about today's quote and I am going to try to make this change in my life. I need to turn more of my hopes and dreams into goals and set up a reasonable time to work on them. I need to know that I can't always put things off and that I should start working toward these goals now.
I worked in the newspaper business for years and I actually thrived pretty well with deadlines. If I set a few for myself now, I think it will help me.
And if you set some for yourself, I am sure it can help you, too. It doesn't matter if you want to write a book, build a tree house, fix your car, spend more time with your friends, become a better parent, become a better spouse or become a better basketball player, now is the time to get started!
Set up a deadline and get moving. Waiting for things to happen means you are hoping for change.
Setting a deadline and getting moving toward your goals means you are going to make things happen.
You can achieve your goals and today is a great day to get started!
