Today's verse is from Hebrews 10:24 and it has a very important message for all of us.
"And let us consider how we may spur one another toward love and good deeds."
The message as I see it today, is that while are always looking for love and good fortune in our lives, we also need to be spreading love and kindness to the people around us.
It's certainly good to pray to God and ask for kindness, love and good fortune in our lives, but it's also just as important for us to be spreading love and kindness to the people around us.
You may be down on your luck, you may be sick, your love life may be a mess or you may have all kinds of other troubles, but you can still reach out to the people around you. Too often today, we judge the people around us and want to blame them for their problems when really we should be helping them.
The Lord calls us to spur one another toward love and good deeds, and I encourage you to do this today, whenever it is that you may read this. It's important to do this for several reasons.
First of all, it's the right thing to do. People need love and kindness, and you can help all kinds of people.
Also, it will make you feel better. Now matter what is going badly in your life, if you reach out to the people around you and help them or just show them that you love them, it is going to make you feel better. Usually when you help someone else, you end up helping yourself.
Finally, maybe someone out there has been praying for some kindness or just needs some caring and compassion in his or her life. You may not realize it, but by stepping up to help this person, you may be answering his or her prayers. You'd be helping God to answer this person's prayers, and it's likely that the person you help will continue on to show someone else love or compassion or spur someone else toward good deeds, which will help to answer more of God's prayers.
You might not know where you are going in your life or how you are going to overcome your troubles, but you can do great things by following God's word and spurring one another toward love and good deeds.
