If you haven't seen it yet, Sharknado is a new Syfy Channel movie that is awful and wonderful. The story is not realistic, the acting is a little below the level of a 1970s soap opera, and the special effects are not very special. At the same time, though, the movie is incredibly entertaining as it answers the age old question of what would happen if a giant tornado went over the ocean, picked up a bunch of sharks and then threw the sharks all over a major city.
* First of all, it makes the plagues from the Bible seem not so bad. Raining frogs and swarms of crickets have nothing on flying sharks. I would think, though, that if it really were raining sharks like in the movie, a lot of people would think that it was some sort of plague from God. We should remember, though, that God loves us and does not plan on doing anything like that. If we ever do see flying sharks in real life, we should not think that it is God trying to punish us, but instead we should think about how God is trying to help us get away from the flying sharks. (Hint, just move out of the way when you see one falling toward you, and don't go in any water.) When you need help, don't think that God is punishing you, instead think about how God wants to help you.
* The movie also tells us that there is always hope. Even if sharks are flying toward you, you have a shark hanging onto your helicopter or you somehow fall out of a helicopter and then get swallowed whole by a shark that is stuck in a tornado, there is still hope. I doubt that any of us face problems that large in our lives, so maybe our problems really aren't as bad as we think. Also, you should realize that there is hope in any challenge that you face. God loves you and wants to help you, even if you are stuck in a tornado with a giant shark.
* God wants us to be happy. If a movie like this is not harming anyone and it is making the people who watch it happy, then I imagine that God is pleased with that. God loves us and wants us to enjoy our lives. God inspires people to tell stories, write music, make movies and write silly little blogs, and if Sharknado makes you happy, then I imagine God is happy, too. You should enjoy your life, just stay away from tornadoes that have sharks in them.
* Finally, if a terrible little movie like Sharnado can draw this much attention and reach out so many people, just think what you can do in your life. You can have an impact on the people around you and on people that you don't even know. Maybe you can write a story, movie or song that draws a lot of attention and acclaim like Sharknado, or maybe you can just treat people well in your daily life and have an effect on people in that way. You can do great things in your life, and if Sharknado can help you remember that point, then that is a great thing.
